The 1995 W Silver Eagle Coin
The 1995 W Silver Eagle is a coin that was minted in 1995. There were only 30,125 of these coins made, and they are in high demand today by coin collectors. This Silver Eagle coin has a faced value of one dollar and is silver in color. This coin contains exactly 1 ounce of complete pure silver in an alloy mix of 99.93 percent silver and .07 percent of copper.
The 1995 W Silver Eagle, despite having a face value of one dollar discussed before, is valued around $3,000! More of these coins were produced with different mint marks, but the "w" mint mark is the one that coin collectors are seeking out passionately. The "w" stands for West Point. Other mint marks in this series are "p" for Philadelphia and "s" for San Fransisco. For those of you that do not know, the mint mark is stamped on based upon where the coin was produced. The coin in question was made in West Point.
Why is the 1995 W Silver Eagle more sought after than the same coin with the P or S mark? Well there are a lot less W coins than the same coin with the P or S mint marks. The version with the p mint mark was originally sold for $23.00, but 407,822 of them were made. Finding a version of the coin with a P or S is much easier than getting your hands on the one made in West Point. Everyone wants the coin that is hard to find, which brings up the value of the coin.

The 1995 W Silver Eagle coin was originally sold to collectors as a set of coins for a whopping $999. They were called the 10th Anniversary American Eagle Proof Five Coin Set. The set included four coins in one ounce, one half ounce, one fourth ounce, and one tenth of an ounce, also included was the 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle coin in question. Not surprisingly, 30,125 sets were sold, which is the same as the amount of these coins that were made. The sets were offered from the United States Mint. Of the four coins in the set, this one is worth the most money and is the one that everyone wants. |
