The 20th Anniversary 2006 Silver Eagle

American Silver Eagle Coins are the official silver bullion coins of the US.  These silver coins have been struck since 1986 and have a face value of one dollar.  Bullion coins are not typically used for purchases or regular daily transactions.  They are coins struck from a precious metal and are collectible coins that hold great value to the owner and those wishing to invest in collectible coins. The 2006 Silver Eagle coin was struck by the US Mint and issued as a standard usable coin, the traditional collectible coin and then a second collectible set to specifically commemorate 20th anniversary of the first striking of these collectible silver eagle coins.

The 2006 Silver Eagle coin reached a final mintage of 10,676,522.  This was only the third time (until 2008) an annual mintage of these kinds of coins went beyond the ten million mark.  It was also the second highest total of this bullion mintage until the 2008 and later versions.
